What stage of pregnancy or postnatally should I start bumps pilates? [Back]

You can start bumps pilates from 12 weeks onwards with approval from your obstetrician to exercise. Most girls start between approx.12-20 weeks pregnancy. The earlier you start the better strengthening will occur with your changing body shape.

You can start postnatal classes from 6 weeks after a normal vaginal delivery and from 8 weeks after a C section with approval from your obstetrician to exercise again.

Does it matter if I have never done pilates before? [Back]

Most girls have never done pilates before or if so very little and pick it up very quickly. The classes are gentle & safe and can be modified to your level of strength & flexibility. Take your time and perform all exercises slowly & in a controlled way and you will be fine.

What should I know for my first class? [Back]

Please wear loose comfortable exercise gear eg. Track pants, leggings, sports bra or maternity bra and top. You can wear socks or barefeet during class.

Please bring a waterbottle and make sure you have had a light snack before class.

Please complete the medical registration form and have it ready to give to your instructor and discuss any issues.

How long does the class go for? [Back]

The class goes for a total of 1 hour with a wam up and cool down stretches.

How many classes a week should I attend? [Back]

It sometimes depends what other exercise you are doing (eg. Walking, swimming, Aquamums) and also on your level of fitness, strength & also time available you have to attend?

It is best to start with 1 class a week and then gradually add another class when you feel comfortable. You can speak to your physiotherapist instructor about this.

How much does it cost, how do I pay and how do I claim it on my health insurance? [Back]

Casual classes are $20 and a 10 session pass is $180.

You will get a receipt after a casual class to hand into your health fund and a typed itemised receipt AFTER you have attended all 10 classes from the 10 session pass.

You can pay with cash, cheque (bumps pilates) or via direct internet transfer (please email Melissa to arrange)

Do I book into a regular class time? [Back]

Yes most girls book into a regular class time and let the instructor know when away or unable to attend (with > 24 hrs notice) However some girls book in casually to different class times as they may be shift workers or unable to stick to a regular class. This will then depend on availability in classes.

How do I cancel a class? [Back]

Please email or text with dates away or unable to attend with > 24 hours notice (otherwise cancellation fee may apply) melissa@bumpspilates.com.au or 0412 297 057

What happens if something happens during my pregnancy and I cannot use all my pre paid 10 sessions? [Back]

If you are injured, become sick or deliver early you will be able to use the remainder of your 10 session pass for postnatal classes.

If for some reason you cannot at all, with a letter from your obstetrician you can get a refund of remaining classes. Please speak to Melissa to arrange.
